ok i have serched this section of the forums many times over
and ive seen that other people have this problem also, I a
1995 eclipse gs lately it been goin into what I guesss you
call limp mode and the only way I can get it out is by
reseting the computer. When its not in limp mode it shifts
find dosen't jerk or anythin so im pretty sure its something
electrical and not mechanical. I had the codes pulled and the
only thing that came up was P0505-Idle Air Control Motor
Circuits so that doesn't help much...I know when people before
me brought up yall thought it was A speed censor. But being
that my car is a 95 im sure it could also be the computer. Id
really like to narrow to one problem so yalls wisdom would be
apperciated

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo the iac is a major comp. with our
trans. based on what the ecu read from the iac , map , and tps
is how it tells the tcu which then tells the proper trans
solonoid(s) when to shift. Doesnt mean the IAC is bad tho...
check the iac connector out of the motor those wires like to
tear with engine tourqe.
Also be sure to use a crystler/mitsu DRB (code scanner) the
generic ones (aftermarket) will only pull up generic obd2
codes and very little manufacturer specific codes. (90% of all
manufacturer codes are trans related) Have u upgraded your
solonoid pack yet? how many miles?whats your maintance like?
what other trans mods have u done?

"LIMP MODE" is cause by fluid pressure dispite what
others may say...but your resets when u clear the temp codes
"batt disconnect" which mean u wanna focus your area
on either the solonoid pack , tcu , or iac-map-tps circuts. if
all of that checks out "OK" then get yourself a
trans pressure gauge kit... (60$ from jc whitney) and check
the fluid pressures in every gear .the valves are under the
solonoid pack (have to remove the rubber piece surrounding the
pack) To make sure u are reading this correctly stop by your
local satan and ask service for a trans fluid diagram , and
solonoid activation chart printout. IF THEY GIVE U SHIT email
me and ill send em to ya.

First off i wanna thank you for anwsering. the car has about
108,000 miles I bought the car about a year ago and changed
the trans fluid about six months ago. Other than that I
haven't touched the tran. I took to a mechanic about 2 weeks
ago and left it there for a week and just my luck the entire
time it was there it was fine. When i first bought the car i
had a problem similar to this but i would only have to turn
off the car and turn it back on and it would fix for a couple
days. i took it to a transmission shop and they said it was
fine just that the fluid was a little dirty and they changed
it and it fixed of course till now. So in your opnion what
would u bet on. what would be your first course of action. ill
be sure to check out all that you told me tommrow again thanks
alot

 call up crystler direct and see what they say bud

alright just let me know what happens

they said u have to have codes bro.....but yes they are
manufacturer specific so srry to say.... gotta take it to
satan to be scanned...and dont take it to mitsu take it to
crystler man. tell em all u want is for them to pull the codes
and let u know what is going on. if nothing have them then
reflash the tcu w/ updated software.
