Well with much help from Soulcontroller I finished the shift kit yesterday. First off I have to say that doing the shift kit is a SERIOUS BITCH. With that said I have to say that it was well worth it the shift are nearly instant now and there is virtually no power loss between shifts. Basically in-conjunction with the other tranny mods the car almost has no dead spots. From 10mph you can push the pedal to the floor and the car will pull and pull untill it tops out . Car just seems so much more responsive. Im going to do a writeup on this so anyone that has photos they think might be useful just email them to me. Thanks again Soulcontroller .

no problem man. im glad everything went together alright for you. at one point i figured i was making you more confused hehe...

but yea, i agree it was a bitch doing it. it wasnt that bad, but getting those pistons back in was a little rough, along with all the other little snags you run into along the way.

im glad you got it all together though. you did use a new filter right? and put in some magnets and a drain plug?

glad i could be of help.

Well I know what it is and where it is but my knowledge ends there. I dont know how to go about getting to it without taking the tranny out. I personally am done with my tranny completely I dont plan on doing anything else to that part of the car except maintaining it.

To get to the diff youve got to take out the tranny. unless you're really creative. I had my tranny mechanic do the brackets and he had to take out the tranny. If you look under the car the differenential pokes out and theres no way to get it out. its a fucking haus.

Soulcontroller did you install your turbo yourself? If so how difficult was it cause honestly it looks really simple to install. Just complicated to tune .

yea, myself, xtremers, and matt95gts installed mine one weekend. it really isnt *that* difficult. if you can find someone around you who has done it before it makes things a lot easier. the shift kit was more difficult lol. its just time consuming. i was planning on taking 4 or 5 days to do it myself, but got some help from a few friends and we polished it off in a little over a day.

as for tuning, you really just need someone else with you to read fuel trims under boost. if you can get an egt and a/f-o2 digital guage that helps too.

i still drive around with a smile on my face boosting around town hehe.

yea joe, thats what i thought. did you just take your tranny to a shop and they did all your work for you?

i might get an overhaul kit, some pins and a high stall torque converter, and just have a shop install it. i dont really know any reputable tranny shops around here though, at least that do work on the a604 consistently. do you guys have any recommendations on a shop?

I used All Pro Transmission here in Nashville. I recommend any corporate owned and backed place. Or a ma and pop place whos been doing it forever. But do NOT take it to a mechanic. take it to a specialist. you'd be suprised what mechanics dont know.

Still trying to get used to how the car shifts now. It has become almost impossible to let off and punch it to make the tires chirp because it shifts in a split second now . I love it though. So nice to hit the gas feel the instant drop and take off.

haha yea. it really does make the shifts snappier. if you opted for that option anyway.

trying to let off the gas and stomp it just doesnt feel right to me in the a/t. just wait till it rains, or put on a turbo to chirp the tires hehe.

Is it really worth the money? Because I have been thinking about it and if it really makes a big difference Ill prolly go ahead and grab one. But I dont want to speed $200+ for something that doesnt really do much but I trust your opinions dirty .

It's not that difficult, it's just stressful becuase everything is small, everything looks the same, and everything has a certain place to go which is small and looks that same as everything else. Can you dig it?

First off this post is like 6 months old lol . With two people the shift kit install wont be that bad just make sure you follow the writeup and if you have any questions dont guess get online and ask them. Its little things that can cause big issues with this install. Be prepared to dedicate an entire day to it though.
