I remember reading somewhere that the AEM v2 intake is not compatible with our automatic trannys, due to clearance issues.

Is this true?

Also.. I have used the search feature, but I still dont have a definitive answer... extra cash for v2 worth it? Other local forums and shops have told me yes, while one thread on this site says no. I know that at least one of you guys should have some experience with it.

No problem bro.... i think i can answer this one for ya...... w/ an atx... it'll clear it w/ ease....and proformance wise.... for the extra money... go with the AEM CAI not the v2...... twice the wieght and not much heat reduction.... all the v2 does is try and cool down the air slightly.. and with any CAI in out cars heat isnt a real huge issue being so far from the exast manifold. Also.. Ive tested the V2 and the strait Cai and ill tell you rite now im running the Good old CAI for AEM... if there's a place u can buy one and return it...... buy both and return one... you'll notice the HUGE sound differance between the CAI and the v2 (CAI sound meaner / with a huge gulp of air between gears)
Hope I helped ya out

Jake

ummm you ever felt your metal CAI tube after a long drive or some hard pulls, if you so wont think that way anymore, Ive seen many where you can barely touch the tube after a good run, heat IS an issue with CAI's thats why I have an ICEMAN and I love it, and I guarantee better gains over the AEM (AEM your just paying for the name) well iceman too but iceman tube is plastic and much better at keeping intake air cool

so that's also why I heard of some people melting those.
I asked myself. $200+ for metal or plastic. Seemed like a no brainer to me.

never melted mine, and if you do youve got worse problems than just melting your intake tube.
its not like there is nothing else in the engine bay made of plastic

thats your choice but I have temp guage that tells me much different, iceman does keep intake air cooler
