#4807, "New Track Times! LOL!!!"
Jul-10-05 10:50 AM by 96rs-t

you guys are going to laugh at me. it's been about 1.5yrs since i've been to the track & well, lets just say it shows on my 1st run. I swapped out my 17s for my 14's (a 14/60/195 tire) small little thing. Basically launched @ 4K rpms and it seemed as if i was sitting on the line warming up my tires. Tire smoke everywhere...lol. here is the result of my first run; i think i hold the record now for slowest run with a turbo:

R/T - -.148
60' - 3.040 (spinning tires all through 3rd gear...badly)
1/8 - 12.371
1/4 - 18.589!!!!! @ 81.02mph

Well, 2nd run I got the wheel spin a little under control, but i was still spinning through 2nd gear, so the result was not decent, but much better than my 1st..(what isn't):

R/T - 1.345 (Fell asleep on this one)
60' - 2.726
1/8 - 10.677
1/4 - 16.188 @ 88.96mph

my 3rd run was similar to the 2nd, so i'll leave it out. Finally on my last run, i was able to get the wheel spin under control, however this is because i launched @ about 2500 rpms, and i bogged the car, but still decent time:

R/T - .672
60' - 2.526
1/8 - 10.088
1/4 - 15.480 @ 89.21

I think I would have hit a high 14, if i hadn't bogged the car. I tried getting in another run, because 15.4 is my new best, and I was pumped to get another run, but the track closed before I got the chance. On that last run, I heard a BIG POP sound underneath my car as I crossed the finish line and I saw it on the track as I rolled away from it, but didnt know what it was since it was already dark, and I thought i broke something, but the car seemed just fine. When I pulled to the pits, I noticed my air filter popped right out. It stayed on the runway..lol. I will hit a 14 on my stage 1 next time!

the fastest trap time i pulled was 89mph, I never let off 3rd gear. Next time, i will be running slicks! even if my car isnt that fast, i'd still like to know how well i do with some traction on just a stage 1.

All that torque to the front wheels is tough to control, but you'll get there with practice Rob.

why are they so hard on the car? I'm thinking they wouldnt be any harder on the car than spinning my reg tires for 3 gears.
not to mention i already bought the slicks.

because the traction is so good that your axles might not handle it. That's just one of the things that could go wrong.
