We got a new guy where I work and he was talking some serious smack about his Mustang GT. It is a 1998 auto with cold air, exhaust, race chip, 2 of the six cats hollowed out, and I few other small things. My question is, if I were to shoot a 75 or 85 shot of N20, who do you think would win this? Being he is auto I would think I have a slight advantage but I am not sure. They are pretty powerful. Anyone know what they run stock with auto? I know I will be going against this sooner or later. Thanks guys.

i dunno. i raced a 99 GT right after i got my car outta the lot and had him pretty well bone stock....im sure it was a lack of driving ability on his part but still. does the guy KNOW how to race? im gonna say you probably could take him with a shot of giggle gas...especially since hes auto. i believe somone commented the mustangs auto to manual gap in power is more than ours.

you should have no trouble with a 98 model GT automatic with a 75 shot. I can take a 96 GT here in town without nitrous, but the kid can't drive very well. It's the new ones you have to watch out for. I raced one saturday night while I was spraying and got my ass handed to me, turns out that car ran a 7.40 (1/8th) at the track the next day (It was FAR from stock). If I were putting money on it, and I was sure of your driving ability, I'd throw $50 on you.

I agree, if it was a 99 mustang it would be a tougher race, but the 98s ha about 225 hp or so, with the 75 shot, a manual tranny, and the weight advantage you should pull off the win.

i think it might be close, with me spraying 100 shot i was running a 14.5 in the 1/4. the only thing that might give you the advantage is him being auto, again that is if he is telling the truth about his time.

You guys are forgetting about the Tq though, I really don't think you will kill that even though the 98's are pretty slow for a V8. He is very likely running a 14.3 in the 1/4. Just my .02 and I have both a NT Talon and a 2002 GT, I have owned all types of stangs though from mild to wild.
