Does anybody know how fast are the v6 models (automatic transmission)? What is their e.t. in the 1/4 mile. My cousin bought one about a month ago and was complaining he was losing to "slow" cars and so now he wants to race me. We already kind of raced over a bridge. I hung with him, then I started to pull away ahead of him, but he wants to race me from a stop. TIA

The auto tranny V6 will be slower than your manual tranny car.

they are not fast. I beat one with I/H/E 5 speed and a decent driver by like 2 cars. You should kill an automatic.

you will beat the V6 automatic, my gurlfriend has a 99 v6 cougar, and I beat her, and she is a fairly good racer.

my car is auto. I drove a friend's auto 99 v6 cougar with kkm intake and magnaflow exhaust. It felt just like it was, a heavy and underpowered car. They feel really heavy. I knew right away, a 420a could take one of these. You should win. It might get you on the jump b/c TQ, but I doubt it. It felt like a pretty heavy car when I drove it. I hated it. I wouldn't drive one if someone gave it to me. That's how bad I thought it was.

The 5spd are from a 15.4-16.0 stock and I've seen some high 14's with just a few bolt ons. The auto's are in the mid-high 16's stock. The older 4.6 SOHC V8 Cougars are in the high 15's to mid 16's dependig on the year. I am surprised by some of the modded times I've seen...go over to www.fastcougar.com/forums for some more info on the 99 up Cougars...hope that helps!

1999 Mercury Cougar V6: 2892lb, 170hp, 165ft-lb torque
2G Eclipse/Talon I4: 2767lb, 140hp, 130ft-lb torque

Cougar has ~17.01 lb/hp and ~17.52 lb/ft-lb of torque
Eclipse has ~19.76 lb/hp and ~21.28 lb/ft-lb of torque

Thats a BIG difference, and numbers dont lie... I dunno if having an automatic versus a 5 spd will "fix" that much of a difference. But if it does, thats definately impressive. I guess its mostly driver skill.

Raced a 1999 Cougar V6, he just barely beat me when I had just the intake on there. He is a good driver, I figured he'd beat me.

My friend has an 01? v6 Auto, I have a 95 GS with weight reduction A'pexI N1 full catback, AEM CAI, and eibach pro-kits. I raced him from a red light and he just ripped me a new one up until about 70. At 70 it seemed like I started inching on him but he was a couple cars ahead. I'm thinking theres something wrong with my car btw I'm also an automatic

I can barely hang with a 99 Cougar 5speed. Just about beats me everytime, and he has an intake. If u are 5 speed, and he's auto then you should beat him.
