#1735, "Best Run Yet"

I have only been up to the track three time this year and this is my best run for my 1999 GS Eclipse. I know I am slugish at the start. But is this about the average time I should be expecting with these modes?

Reaction .243
60ft - 2.580
1/8th mile - 10.779
E.T. - 16.663
MPH - 85.749

gseclipse_1999-Sounds like you need a tune up! You should be lower than that. That jet chip must not do much either.

You should be a bit lower than that. Your 60ft's need to be much lower, down in the 2.1-2.2 range. Practice on that launch. Try not to bog, or spin out badly. That Jet chip is a POS. I know a guy personally who had one. His car ran like ass and he fried a bunch of sensors.

Practice lauching on some backroads. i did that before my first run and pulled a 2.3 on my first run ever w/ a horrible bog at the start due to my slipping clutch. Not sure how Todd pulled 2.1-2.2's in a NA but I guess its possible. In friends 97 GS w/ cold air and crappy pacesetter catback I got a 16.3 w/ a 2.3 60 ft at a crappy track when it was humid and over 100 degrees on 17's. Coulda easily broken into 15's at a good track on a cooler day. good luck.

Not
>sure how Todd pulled 2.1-2.2's in a NA but I guess its
>possible.

Part suspension setup (front shocks as soft as possible, rear shocks as stiff as possible), part taking some air out of the tires (24 psi is a good start) but mostly practice, practice, practice, practice, practice

It took me at least 25 runs at the drag strip (that was 3 years ago!) before I even figured out how to BEGIN launching the car right. I still mess up a few times, and some days when I race it's so cold I can't do anything but spin (so does everyone else on those days, except for the AWD guys).

My best ever 60' time was a 2.231. A "good" 60' for me is anything in the mid 2.2s or lower. And, that is on stock 14 inch alloys and 195 tires.

You just have to keep the wheelspin down and be smooth on the launch. Let the clutch out. Don't dump it, don't slip it, and modulate with the throttle.

With only a shortram and a catback rolling on the stock 14's, with the stock suspension at 85k miles I pulled a 2.15 60ft my first time at the track. It can be done
