They say that you can disconnect the lower downpipe section to have the ultimate "race pipe" This is not reccomended if your injectors and coilpacks are hooked up to the stock ECU, because no exhaust gas will be passing by the rear oxygen sensor. There's mounting evidence that the rear oxygen sensor HAS to have exhaust gas blowing by it at all times (it doesn't matter if there's a catalytic converter or not) for the car to run properly. I don't feel like explaining why, but let's just say that Bill had a really good theory at the Shootout about this.
