Well, my point was that I do come to my own conclusions, and they very well may be completely different from my partner's. I can not be held responsible for his opinions, and in all fairness, he can not be held responsible for mine. Your post just rubbed me the wrong way, because I am almost positive who you are. I don't have any proof, so I will keep it to myself, but I dropped a few hints in the post.
All that I ask is that you give me a fair shot. I do not pull opinions out of my ass, and I really do understand the physics of motors and turbochargers. The 2.4 should be able to rev happily to 9K, just not for a prolonged period, which shouldn't be an issue if the motor has any power whatsoever, as it should not stay in the high RPMs for all that long. The rod length:stroke ratio in the 2.4 is not all that much worse then that of the 2.0, because the rods are lengthened. This is where Chrysler made a steep break from the Mitsubishi mentality. Rather then punching out the same casting, they used a different block that is also taller, in order to have a higher deck and longer rods. Hehe... yeah, my rods are longer then yours. So, the rod:stroke ratio of the 2.4 is about 1.5:1, which is within .1 of the B series Hondas. Also, the block is actually made of a decent piece of iron. The cylinder walls don't ovalize readily. In fact, a properly treated 420a will be rebuildable to stock bore after as many as 60K miles. Not that I would do it, but I have mic'd blocks with almost that many miles on it, and there had been no appreciable ovalization perpendicular to the thrust angle. I still did the right thing, though, and had the block bored out to spec with the new pistons. So, even though I didn't do it, I probably could have gotten away with a stock bore piston in the rebuild.
Now, about my "chronies," (see? That is a copy of your spelling error. What are they, timepieces?) they are simply people who appreciate the technical nature that I bring to my posts. I even try to make it all tangible, and try not to type above my audience, even if my audience is a 16 year old riceboy with altezzas and light up windshield washer nozzles. I guess it could be said that my posts are meant to be more inclusive. What can be said for yours, sir?
I seem to recall a post by someone who seems very similar to you. It was on another forum, had 4 letters, can't remember the name of it, off hand. But it states that you are not just a keyboard warrior and are willing to confront a stupid person in person, not just online. I can believe that. I can also attest to Marco's knowledge. I met him at this past shootout. Mind you, I had to do so in a setting other then where I was staying, as my local DSM club managed to piss him off something hardcore. Feel free to ask him how his scooter is running.
