Anyone have any ways to get this done easily and quickly? All the things I have come up with lead to me either pulling the motor, or dropping the trans. Not sure which route would be easiest. When I originally installed my Flex plate to clutch bolts, I forgot to put loctite on them. Halfway thru the summer, they came loose and made a whole lot of noise, leading to a minor teardown. I took the bolts out, loctite/reinstalled them, but the damage had been done to the flexplate. The holes that were originally about 1/2" are now over an inch wide, allowing plenty of slop for the clutch to bounce back and forth in. That, and a loping idle, plenty of douchebaggery driving at the shootout, and quite a few 8k rpm rev limits at the track, this thing is toast. Ive taken it apart, loctite and retorqued 3 times now and it still comes loose/makes noise in the upper RPM, so its just time to get dirty and replace it.
Also, any thoughts on where to get the plate and the bolts? I checked Mentor Mitsu, they want $400 for the plate :| So Im thinking Ebay for a plate, not sure on the bolts yet. No junkyards with motors anywhere around here. 95 Eclipse GS: 10.5:1, Crower 2's and MSII 186 WHP - 150 WTQ 14.697 @ 93.85 MPH......Gone, but not forgotten 99 420A Avenger: Given to my sister 99 GS OZ: Sold 03 Evo 8: Family Car with balls
