Remember that reaction time has nothing to do with elapsed time. The ET timer doesnt start until your wheels trip the lights when you start moving. The reaction time is only the time from when the light goes green to when you trip the lights.

If you are going for the best ET, sometimes its better to ignore reaction time and just concentrate on your launch. Many times I've let the ugly, smelly and ridiculously loud V8 in the other lane take off so I can actually hear my engine when launching.

This is of course different if you are bracket racing, where the total time (RT + ET) is whats important.
