Good for you for getting one that was "workable". As you said, its hit or miss on quality control.
As for functioning, I loved it when it was in. I just would have liked to keep my fluid INSIDE the tranny (Um, by tranny, I mean transmission, Tim).
As for coils; I used stock and MSD coil up to 24 pounds on a BW366 before blowing out spark. I got a "Screamin' Demon" (sp?) and got her to 29lbs before blowing out spark. Captain Caveman
