Yep its pointless to keep a domestic vs. import war going. I have personally owned both, work on both at my shop every day. The biggest things i notice between the two is this. I had a 96 Grand Prix before my clipse, and i def noticed a diff in interior build quality being that my prix was much nicer inside. More comfy, better build quality, and i can say that is true for most new domestics(esp GM), my clipse just seeems "cheaper" in interior build qulity, as most imports are. One thing is i think is that if the domestic car companies would put in the same amount of R & D that the imports do in the engine design, the domestics would have a badd ass motor. I'm tellin you that if GM or Ford made their big V8's have more HP with higher redline, that it would be one very feared motor. But in reality, they don't have to, they have mad torque. Both will get you across the finish line quickly. Since the V8's have twice as many cylinders as we do, they don't have to rev to 9,000 rpm to get it done. We have half as many cylinders, and have to rev hight to get the same or similar amounts of torque. I respect any fast car, whoever makes it. I really wouldn't buy any ford except a mustang, because of all of the BS prob they have, esp electrical, way too much of that from my experience. Imports are more expensive to fix, but will not need as much fixing as a domestic, but in the end, everything seems to even out between the 2, given the pro's and con's of each. As many have said, "To each his own".. I think its more fun, more rewarding, to make a slow car from the factory, fast. There are MANY more fast domestics out of the facory fast, than there are imports. For me, i wanted to be a little different than buying a stang or mero. You can't even really debate on the cost of making one faster, there are just too many variables. Either way, its costs money to make ANY car really fast, it just depends on the car, how much you got it for, ect...Bring what you got, race, and see who's faster. Thats what its all about
