#5029, "Took the mustang to the track"

It's a stock 99 gt 5-spd, so I wasn't expecting anything better than stock times. According to Ford is a 14.20, which means the average Joe would run a 14.5.

Anyway, I put a Mac prochamber on it (gets rid of the cats), flow masters and an El Cheapo cold air kit with a shitty air filter.

My clutch slipped it's ass off with the 315 tires on the rear (don't know if the clutch has ever been changed). At first I thought it was spinning the tires, but there's a drastic difference in feel.

1st run:
Launched at about 3k, and slid the clutch a little because I thought it was spinning. When I was off the clutch completely, it still slipped pretty bad, speed-shifted 2nd (never let off the throttle) and it slipped bad and took what felt like a least 2 seconds to grab, speed-shifted 3rd, same problem, then speed-shifted 4th and it stuck, pushing the car to a 14.68 at 98 mph.

Man, you should have smelled that clutch when I got back to the staging lanes.

2nd run:
Launched a little easier, probably the same RPM, but didn't go WOT right away, and the clutch stuck a little better. I lifted for the 1-2 shift and it felt good so I speed-shifted the 2-3, but it slipped just a little, then speed-shifted to 4th and ran a 14.4 at 97.

Not bad for a mostly stock mustang with a slipping clutch and 145,000 miles on it.

I was bored so I figured I'd take the DD out and see what it did. Probably a bad idea cuz I can't stop thinking about what I can do to get it just a little faster (which is never enough, you know).
