Ok, maybe this ESI Talon NT I bought a month isnt a BAD lemon, but its a little-problem type lemon.

I have a problem of when I floor it, and go up through either 2nd or 3rd, the engine has shutoff twice. The first time I did it it shutoff in 3rd, but left the radio and everything on, just the engine shutoff. Tonight I was flooring up through 2nd and it for a split second kinda shutoff, but came on. It was less than half a second, but it wasnt a misfire. All engine power was loss and a few lights starting coming on but before they even fully lit up the engine picked up again and kept flooring.

What now. I can't take this. Argh.

Well the first time it happened the engine completely shutoff and I had to pull over and start it back up. I reached maybe 6000rpm in 3rd gear when it happened. Also it wouldn't start up for an hour until it cooled down.

The 2nd time it happened I only reached maybe 4000rpm in 2nd gear, but I was flooring it. The engine did not shutoff completely but seemed to for a split second then kicked back in. Lights started lighting up for that split second but before they fully lit the engine kicked back in and everything was back to normal.

LAST EDITED ON 25-Apr-01 AT 01:17 PM (PST)

A friend of mine has a 95 RS Auto and it does the same thing. the car is bone stock and is always drivin very nicely. he isn't into racing at all the car has just under 70k and is well taken care of. This problem happens to him at random. he will be driving along then the car will kinda jerk. with the engine shutting off and some dash lights comming on. Then the engine will come right back on, and the dash lights will turn off. and the car will keep going. and in his car it is completly random as far as rpm's I am not sure it might be only uder acceleration though. Also the car will ocasionally die while he warms it up. This only happens when he starts the car up when it has been started in several hrs. Anyhelp would be aperciated. Thanks

Ok guys, I have a 99RS and have had the same problems you mentioned above. It has actually happened to me twice...back in Dec. and last month....thank God for warranties. Anyway, the first time the dealer said my computer was wacked out, so they replaced it. They also replaced the fuel relay pack and the cam position sensor just to be sure. However, last month it ended up showing a code for "no crank sensor found", so they replaced the crank position sensor. The sensor housing was comming apart and would shut the car off at random. I hope this helps you guys out.
