I bought a CM 3 clutch with about 30,000 on it. I replaced the TO bearing and had the tranny put back in. Anything under load and the trans wont go in to gear. Normal driving is fine, no grinding. There is no grindig under load either, but it just wont go in to gear with out trying a few times. This didnt happen with the stock clutch. The guy that did the work said Mitsu told him to put in gear oil. I think I have 80w-90 in there right now. Would this make the shifting harder?

You are fubarred man -- Mitsu only recommends mitsu fluid -- using something other than mitsu fluid can and has resulted in disastrous results for people on this board...best advice drain that fluid immediately and get the correct tranny fluid from Mitsu. Search for a post from me earlier -- it will tell you the part number etc...hope you didn't hurt anything -- best of luck.

Ahhh, ouch... noo... not 90 weight...
Gear lube is not good for our trans, get that out ASAP. Use Mopar Trans Fluid (Since it's a Mopar Tranny) Some use BG Syncroshift (I do for the moment, probably switch to Mopar fluid next time around), but it's a light oil, not the sludge of gear lube. Get it out switch back to Mopar Fluid and pray nothign was damaged.

like ^^^ said, watch it. I went to a oil change place and had them change my tranny fluid. They put in pennzoil, (factory weight according to them) about a year (or less actually) later, new trans.
according to the trans guy i went dry at one point, a few of my gears were melted, most all bearings were shot. the Mopar fluid is especially designed for the NVT-350(?) and has certain heat dissipation characteristics needed for it.
I just got my car back a week or so ago, don't know what the trans guy put in it (hopefully mopar), but it shifts "like butter" and i can't even hear the gears whine (i sorta miss that), whiny gears sound cool.
I had horrible shifting too, even after first rebuild, took it back, another shot bearing (right after being fixed too).
Has anybody ever heard of replacing a bearing in the trans with a bushing? Thats what the trans dude did! I'm not complaining, it feels and sounds great. (or lack of sound) I've never had such smooth shifts!!!

ok, you cant find Texaco fluid ANYWHERE! i tried and you can't...so i called SATAN and they told me to get GM Synchromesh and put that in...that came directly out of their mouths and they said that is what they always use...so call them and ask.

wouldn't satan have the mopar fluid? isn't is strange that chrysler dealers (both mitsu and eagle) never have any parts in? you'd think that something as simple as fluid they'd have.

Some saturns have the same tranny as us so GM synchromesh is probably the samething as the Mopar NVG350 tranny fluid. I posted this same statement like 6 months ago and no one cared.

yeah, our first generation brothers have known about this for a while. the problem with it is that it doesn't cost less than mitsu dealer fluid. I personally have put some in a 1g, and it worked like a charm. I only got that because BG and mitsu is unavailable where I live.
