ok so i bought this talon yesterday and now i am having the wonderfull time of figuring out all its kinks and the tranny is beginning to look more and more problematic as i go along... yesterday when i got it, the car drove good... today i go to start it up and drive it and it shifts very quickly into second... i mean within a matter of a second or two of getting on the gas... then after that it was stuck in second... wouldnt get in any other gear... the only way to get in first is to stop and shut it off but then the car repeats the process... any advice or helpfull hints would be appreciated... im changing the tranny fluid and filter asap and im hoping that will help with the problem... thanks...

Its not hard at all, I believe you have an a604 auto same as me.
Tell your parts store year model you have and its a non turbo automatic.
Buy a set of jack stands and a floor jack, I recommend the 2.5 ton low profile from walmart by GM performance its under 40 bucks and jacks are 22 bucks also. Not the best but it'll get you by plus the low profile is great because our 2g's are lowered.
Buy a Haynes or Chiltons manuel while your at your local parts store. It gives you detail info. how to change the filter. Haynes manuel is under 20 bucks is good but having both is handy
