How fast do you enter the turn before you pull the brake? I've been into drifting since I was 16 in my CR-X. I beat the hell out of that car.

I tried drifting in my eclipse in the rain once and pulled a full 90 and back to straight in a few seconds barely missed a boulder! Scared the hell out of me and I haven't tried (at least in the dry/non-snow conditions) since then.

Anyone else a drifter or is everyone just a straight up street racer?

i think it depends on the turn, the speed that your goin into it, the actual spot that u yank the funnEbrake, and your knowledge of the terrain/course...

haha cool. Nah I'm the only once cept for Thunderous Talon I suppose. It depends on what kinda turn it is at buttonwillow I drifter turn 2 at about 30-40 MPH I think. I've been in an 86 that was drifting at like 80 O_O

I usually practice drifting during autox though cuz drifting out on the streets can get costly if you know what I mean.

Cool a crx eh, I heard those are pretty good FF drift cars. Always wanted to drift one of those, EG6 civic, and Integra R.

I'm trying to use left foot braking to lighten the rear and use the ebrake to fine tune the drift, but I'm running into problems. I guess I'm scared to drift at high RPM, all that darn power is intimidating.

oh yeah one good thing about FF cars is that you can pull the brake will still applying gas.

Do you have any special suspesion set-up for drifting?

The CR-X was fun to drift because it's so light and their is so much weight over the front wheels. I go to drift my eclipse and the thing responds compleatly differantly (duh ) but I'll get back to it when I find a safer place to do it.

I'm pulling more weight out of the back of the car to push my weight ratio forward. It should help dragging and drifting.

For now I need shocks because my head is hurtin

Yeah I have some special suspension setup to get me all the oversteer that a drifter demands haha that sound so korny. I have KYB AGX adjustable shox. What I do is set the front to the lowest setting and the rear to the highest setting. This setup makes the weight trasnfer to the front very quickly lightening the back and making it over steer. I'm pretty good at ebrake drifting but now my next trick to master is left foot braking drifting like I mentioned above I can make the car drift without using the ebrake which is a pretty cool. I plan on getting a fatter rear sway bar in the future so that way I can fine tune the shock setup, even with the setup I'm using right now I can still get mega understeer. oh yeah haha I use some Dunlop Qualifiers that are 205/40/16s. haha yup you heard right 40 series, so the tire and wheel look like 14s! They give like really poor traction so I stuck em on the rear and it's drift o rama. I'm planning to get some steel 14inchers from the junkyard sometime and use those instead

WHat Japanese FF Drifters do in japan is basically do what I did with the crappy rear tires and they toe out the rear suspension. Haha I don't want crappy alignment and I don't have money to get alignment done all the time so I just use the regular toe settings. Haha you should see some of those FF drift cars they're hella battled out. Slide Squad dave used to have an old flat black EF-9 civic but now he has an 86. I have this one option video where this guy drifts his EF-9 haha it's pretty cool he just swing that thing around a corner and it drifts and it looks good too.

Haha I tried the setting in GT3 and they work too!

Hmm I guess what really got me into drifting was Initial D. I used to drift in GT1 but I realized that drifting was more flashy than fast, but Initial D showed me that it could be fast. Drifting is fast when you drift with minimal countersteer and know what turns drifting will be faster and gripping will be faster. Then I see these movies online of crazy japanese drifters busting these long as drifts. Then when I got the eclipse I used to do these little ebrake tricks and stuff, then I graduated to ebrake drifting, and now left foot brake drifts. Haha oh yeah I got the RS before I watched Initial D so that's why I'm driftin and FF car now hehe. But after I watched the EG6 battle in Initial D I was like wow an FF car can really drift. And till this day I'm on a mission to show an FF car can drift. Haha I ran into a problem though everyone thinks I have an AWD eclipse! haha one guy at the drift event asks me "He nice sliding AWD? I'm like nope Front" and he all cool. A lot of people at the autoxes think I'm AWD also. I guess it could be a compliment but making a FF car bust nice drifts like the FR cars is a bigger accomplishment. I was the only FF car drifting that day also

Oh yeah haha to make sure people don't think I'm a GSX I made some cutomized mangnets that say FF-Drifter and FWDrifter on it. Then people will know bwahaha. I wish people would get a clue though it's an ugly eclipse with no wing and a RS sticker in the back.

Dave didn't help me at all dude! I talked to him about drifting my eclipse and he is like " drifting an eclipse, that not really going to happen" Im like "what?!?" He told me to get a used 240. I tried e-mailing him back and he never responded.

I don't care if anything our cars are mean drifters because we have so much weight over the front wheels.

There is nothing wrong with drifting a FF. I watched this one option video and was like "Is that possible?" The things this guy was doing were defying the laws of physics!

I first got into it when my friend Marek from work started talking about it and telling me about dave. Then I read the article in Super Street.

I was hooked. I figured if my car can't be a racer it can always pull some mad DRIFT!! I just need to practice more.

Hades were you from? I'm in Chi-town and there is no one who know how to drift except for Mark in his civic coupe.

I live in San Jose, California.

Recognize this:

Oh my haha I've been calling it an EF-9 it's really a EF-2. I guess I was thinking of EK-9

Yeah I found this magazine informative but the way they explain FF drifting makes it too difficult. All I do is yank the parking brake and step on the gas.

Yeah FF drifting is cool but its slow. A lot of drifters call us wrong wheel drive and ass-draggers. That's probably cuz the majority of them are FR, I feel like I'm the only FF drifter in my area. I heard some other peeps drift their FFs, I remember when drift club had a forum there was a dude in the bay area that drifted his CRX.

The only ones who try drifting around here are morons from school. Think their all big and bad because they got the back tires to screech for a second. I'd like to see them try and make a complete turn!

Cool thing about drifting is you don't need crazy power to do it! this way I can't look like a dumb ass

Bummer, I don't know when I'd ever be in Cali any time soon. I'd like to see you do some drifts. Would you happen to have any videos?

hey guys I'm a fellow drifter. I just went to this forum today and saw the word drifter and said hell yeah I'll talk to these dudes! For awhile their I was scared nobody else likes drifting in the fwd 2gnt. I'm about to post some of my drifting pics and mabye a video or two on my site. right now all I've got is that pic in my sig that wont show up by itself( you have to click the link ) Right now my fun-brake is all kinds of worn out. My friend are scared to ride with me and now I have to do it alot more dangerous by going into the turn fast in a high gear and all of sudden turn the wheel twords the curve and accelerate, downshift and sraighten it back up. come to think of it my drums are probobly out of round by now...oh well.
