992, 1G and 2G pistons Posted by sd240, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
What exactly are the visual differences between 1G and 2G pistons. I bought some slightly used ones and the look exactly like my stock 1g's and they aren't usable anyways. I'm just looking for everything to complain about, because I got screwed over. I'm also sure the "narrowed big rods" aren't so narrowed after all.

2g Pistons should say 63DTF1 on the top of them and 1g pistons only say 63DT.

I did this (2g pistons on a 6bolt 1G), and it worked great. The extra compression and a boost controller turned out a decent amount of power from of the engine.
The pistons and machine work came out to about $300, so I saved maybe $100 off aftermarket forged pistons. If I had plans to ever put a big turbo on, I would have gone forged.
