6666, Its on, sold the FP3052 Bought the GT4088R
Posted by MFGRacing90GSX, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Well like the title says, I have sold the FP 3052, I now have bought a Garrett GT4088R, The Lincoln 225 Tig welder will be here on wed. Material for building the tubular manifold. & the new GT4088R will be here later on in the week Forced Performance RULES!!! All I have to say for the fellow Mid tenn peeps is "IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG" Biotch...... lol anywho, This is going to still be a MAX effort street car. Meaning that it will be a track car unless I wanna drive it to town or just wanna go play around a bit. So needing some sugestions of where to place the turbo. I thought mabe runnning Half radiator, or having the 4 inch inlet kinda stickin out of the hood. Or like shearfab.com has done here

Any suggestions let me know draw it up.....

I think that was just a picture of what his setup might look like, either way it's huge.

He wasn't saying that's HIS setup, he was just showing it as an example of how to place his turbo.. which looks good to me.

And.. WOW, Nice!

Edit - ^ yeah what Curt said, my computer was going really slow..

What are they putting in the water down there? You Tennessee guys are getting buck wild with the turbos. Insane!
6672, RE: Its on, sold the FP3052 Bought the GT4088R
Posted by MFGRacing90GSX, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Yes the picture was an example of placement. However we are fab. the manifold using a GT42R turbochager for when were later upgrade to the GT42R. We are just trying to find the best placement right now.... Our goal is low 9's with the setup we are running who knows what'll happen. If that doesn't happen then comes a friend called the GT42R.... the only downfall to that is we are trying to keep this a GASOLINE car. with the GT42R it'll be real hard to do without methanol or something...

Also the Jackass that WAS buying the turbo back out at the last possible sencond, I really hate that... so up for sale in case anyone know of anyone looking for a nice turbo I still have the FP3052 setup for sale. Need to sell fast.. help!

Ohh Yeah, There as far as where there putting in the Tennessee water, I don't know but when I look into that water I see the reflecion of the GSX going 9's... lol

If you are going for 9's, you may want to go with bigger injectors. Unless I'm not seeing something...

Anybody else agree??

I'd go bigger with that setup no matter what my goals. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, he is going with bigger injectors. I not sure which ones he is planing on running, but he is running close to 100% duty cycle on the 720s with the FP3052 setup he has now.

So you want to know where to place the turbo, huh? Well, the obvious answer is in my car!..........Please?

Just checking in to say I love your enthusiasm. I can feel the excitement in your post. As for your injector size choice (and this will be an ignorant question do to my lack of knowledge on MSnS), what do you do about dead time on the bigger injectors?

Injector dead time is the time it takes for the injector to respond to an open command from the ECU.

I'm guessing what he his asking is: How is he going to get it to idle well with large injectors? There will be some trade off for running the large injectors. "It will be harder to get it to idle smooth with the larger injectors".

ok, with the fp3052 with my that setup, I was running 27psi of boost with 42psi fuel presure & 86% duty cycle on the Greddy 720cc injectors. I am upgrading to 4 1000cc injectors so yeah fuel is taken care of.... Damn I wish that GT4088R would get here....

Amber from Forced Performance called me last night, it is confirmed, the GT4088R will be here on tues. Also I have 3 choices of placement to choose from.

1. Running half a radiator & placing Turbocharger where the driverside Rad. fan would be with he 4 inch inlet butted against the front air dam. Kinda kinda shep has done but on the other side.

2. Placing the Turbocharger identical to Shearer has done in the picture above.

3. Placing turbo right above the tranny with the Turbo kinda sticking out of the hood a little for a little forced air...

Please help..... Chose 1, 2, 3... or with any other sugestions. place photos or describe. I need o make this decision within a week.. please help guys....

The FP3052 setup is for sale for 1900.00 or best offer, it is a damn good setup as anyone would know that has seen my car ran or has rode in it at higher boost levels. I need an offer soon or it will be going on joes car (BOOSTEDECLIPSE).

On the other note, still wondering how to place the turbocharger. theres nothing too hard or complicated for us here at MFG Racing...
on choice 1,2, or 3.....

Actually, it comes with a SBR Manifold, FP3052 Turbocharger, Tial 40mm Wastegate, Dump tube, SS o2 housing. Nuts, bolts, Spacer, gaskets ETC... everything new totals up to aroud 2500.00. This stuff was barely used, still pretty much new.

Those pics were taken while mach up was being done. battery, upeer ic pipe, rad hose, all being modified. not 100% sure if that will be the location, we have 1 other option that may work out better... Still could use some ideas though.....

I say go with the top-mount. All your fab time is into one piece, the manifold. You also have the option to run a filter, which I wouldn't understand why you wouldn't want to - too much at stake. Plus, it just looks clean.

Are you sure you can spool that!?

Why wouldn't I be able to spool it. Spooling will not be a problem... If it should become a problem I have a Direct Port Nitrous System ready to rock....

An update on the car, the drivetrain is back together, the dash is close to being done. The 10pt. chromoloy cage is in the works of being installed as is the chute mount. pictures to follow soon...

Brian... I need some 2GNT.com decals... where can I get a few?

Rollcage install on the Blue Demon starts this weekend... as soon as the transmission is back in the Green Beast (heavily modified clutch fork is now done). Surface prep for welding the rollcage to the car is going to be a bitch.

I was kidding. It's big, but it's not the Thumper. You're probably revving long with a 2.0L or hard with a stroker (since I don't know too much about your power plant). This car should be crazy. I'd really enjoy as many pics during and after the build. Chosen how you're going to mount it yet?
6705, RE: This is just SICK!
Posted by dougie2, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
The motor will stay 2.0

As far as turbo placement, it's all going to come down to the intercooler. After discussing this with Matt tonight, we're most likely going with a water/air intercooler... as this is mostly a track car. This will also allow us to move the turbo over and lengthen the runners some more.

No pics or updates right now, I just got back from the smokey mnts. a family member has past away 11.1.06 RIP Carl Thompson. so things have been put on hold for a bit. I am going to start out with some 1295cc injectors for a low boost tune. then once we can achieve 40+ psi then I will be installing the 1600cc injectors. however look forword for some more pics & videos of the green beast. SOON! more updates on mine in a week or two.....

OK, After 4 months of not doing anything with the car, we finally get some time. We have changed a few things. We have started on the tubular manifold. It's looking nice! We changed to a newer intercooler, ETA: Wed March 28. Coil On Plug ignition, 90mm 3.5" Throttle body. adj rear control arms. And LOTS of weight reduction. Ohhhh yea, The 4 1600cc injectors came in from RCENG. today, nice.... Since we are not building this car to run in any specific classes we will be able to free up alot of weight. 10 point KKC sent me a 10 point chromoly Roll Cage & Chute mount. We have chosen to keep the GT4088R for now & play around with it before we run the GT4202R. Pictures SOON to follow....

The difference from a GT4088R & A GT45R well well, the GT45R IS A BIG BIOTCH. Don't get me wrong, the 4088R is a nice turbo, but for making big power on a V8, the 45R is an awesome turbocharger.
