54, a little update on the gsx
Posted by orzech, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Havent posted much on these forums so i figured i would give you a little update on the car and the new goals.

put a new JMF sheet metal intake manifold, 1g ported head with SS valves, crower springs/retainers, bronze valve guides, fp3065 turbo, 2.5" v-band o2 housing, hks type II bov, welded up my IC pipes so now i have a total of 2 intercooler pipes. 1 upper and 1 lower. going to run a 3" downpipe to a 3" eletric cut out. then reduce back down to stock catback. this is to make the car nice and quiet for daily driving, keep cops form bugging me, but when i want to open her up, jsut open the cut out and haul ass, also make it kinda sneeky without a fart can. my new goal is to hit 10's on pump gas with the fp3065. last year i ran 11.73 with stock 1g head, intake manifold, and my fp green at 26 psi on 93 octane. so well see what i can do this year. here is a start up video of the new fp3065. (i run fp2 cams btw)

here are some pictures of the new set up. i just fired her up last night:

Awesome work man. Good to see someone who really knows what they are doing ;-) (or at least it appears that way). Good luck with 10's! I'm hoping to see some good numbers next year as well (10's race, low-mid 11's pump). Love the electric cutout as well.

have nto run the c.o.p. set up yet. im going to try to get away with jsut the stock ignition set up first. its really hit or miss, and then go from there. few things here and there and the car should be set for next spring.

DSMLINK btw.

Actually the stock ignition workds great, and some of the faster people in my area (10 sec and below) will not use COP as it seems to create more problems. I say stick with it for good.

Ah, you beat me to it. Yeah, I personally know of two guys who did the cop and turned back to stock. They both run in the 600whp range (and up with boost :P). One of them had the hardest time and kept blaming his AEM. Turned out to be the cop set-up. Which isn't to say that some don't have good luck with it. Just that I've seen too many "I can't figure out the problem" stories that get fixed by getting rid of the cop. Why bother when the stock ignition will take you there.

DSMLink power!!!

its a little loud as is to be my daily driver.

and trust me i know all about the COP set ups. and hwo they can be a pain in the ass. and i know that stock ignition with a good set of plugs and wires is more than enough for a lot of dsm's. i jsut want something to clean up my engine bay. with the new SMIM i didnt like the coil pack just kinda laying there. with my old 1g IM the coil back bolted right inside the curved part so it made it a lot cleaner. we'll see how things go.

I also have FP2's and FP3065 and the open exhaust and no intake REALLY make a difference in the sound of the car. Nice setup and goodluck :thumbsup

edit - Is your WG dumped too?

if you look at that first pic, you can see it's dumped back into the dp or o2 housing or whatever.

Wow I'd really want to hear you hit full boost ;), it's going to be ridiculously loud. Trust me it's loud enough just with the dumptube for me.
