Well I figured might as well start this new section up with a list of the 2gnt members who own Evo's

I'm one :)

I'm a GVR4 owner. #195/2000

Sure, it's more like a 1G DSM, but it's a pre-Evo. :thumbsup

haha, yeah when I put it up last night it just said Evolution and not Evolution and VR4

I thought of pinning it but didn't know if that was really overstepping my bounds, lol

I was just wondering about the usefulness of an Evo forum the other night. As some of you may know, I also have an Evo. ;)

So does that mean you're for or against? We just thought it would be a good idea to organize the 1G/4G63 section a little better. There are quite a few members who now have 1G's and such and they could benefit this section a little more if they had places to post specific problems.
Oh yeah, if you couldn't tell, I have an Evo as well. :cheers

I'm all for it. There will only be a few of us posting in here initially, but it may be a nice easy way to get GOOD information versus wading through evom. There isn't much I haven't done on an Evo already, so if anyone has questions just fire away!

Wasabi, Greg! Think of this as an opportunity to build a sanctuary for Evo owners wheer quality tech is delivered and mindless BS is punished. You guys have the chance to build your own sort of mini Evo forum in here. We're hoping our resident 4G63 owners will help us to build a quality 4G63 component of our community. :thumbsup

Yeah. I think Thura and Chris (Murix) are the only ones around these parts with the Renesinisters.

Greg's getting senile. It won't be long, now.

Better sharpen up, buddy! The kids are gonna have to yank your driving card. ;)

yeah, no Mazdas for me. The previous cars I've had, in order, are Toyota Corolla, Honda Prelude 1.8 and the Eclipse.

Had a set of FD wheels for a while, tho...

Evo what? Pffft. If the GVR4s hadn't been out there handing out beatings in the WRC 18yrs ago, the Lancer might have remained a tin can econobox all this time. Don't talk shit on the Maxima, I mean Galant. :P

Right now it just has the manifold, ACT clutch (which kind of sucks), Fidenza flywheel, and the tune the previous owner had (which he had TBE, intake and hard pipes). I forsee in the very near future an FMIC, intake, hard pipes, and TBE :)

Just a little update. Boost, coolant temp, and oil pressure gauges are installed (radio relocated to 'cubby'). Shorty antenna replaces the RC car look :). SBR FMIC is in along with the lower pipe. I am leaving the upper pipes alone, as there are very little gains to be had on a near stock car.

Soon to come: K&N drop in, Megan Racing 3" TBE, including outlet, and EvoScan.

Next year: fuel pump, AFPR, WBO2, cams.

Just looking for a nice reliable DD :)

Yeah. That was Thura who picked one up after me and started spending his life at road tracks. :)

I still have the 8, but have another toy too, though it is not an Evo.

I know this is almost yeard old, but I've noticed this side of the forum doesn't see much action anyhow.

Recently bought a 91' Galant VR-4 #1350/2000, it's belize green, only has 140k on the clock, not bad for a 17yr old car. Only mods really done to it are:
Megan Racing 2.5" to 3" downpipe
3" Catback
Symbroski shift kit
Evo 8 Suspension
Autometer Faze boost gauge.

on the bad side however,
needs new clutch - ordered a new one already.
small leak in fuel line.
E-brake no worky.
crack in windshield from hail.
Last but not least it needs either a new rear subframe or take the current one off, sand it down and see about getting it powdercoated.
Here's a picture of it where it sits, picking it next friday!

thanks guys, Should have most of the issues worked out before the shootout, as I plan on taking it up this year rather than my 2gnt. Plan is to keep as sleeper as possible and the daily driver characteristics. My 2gnt will be the track car, which reminds me I got another tranny to pick up in NY for it.

Engine bay can't get anymore stock than this

I know of only two other GVR4s in the area.
Hope to hit up VIR (Virginia International Raceway) sometime this summer and test this baby out.

Be-you-tee-ful. More stock? Ditch that sticker! :order

Hard to really tell from those pics, but it looks like your window trim is headed south like the rest of them. So you know, you can use flat black Rustoleum from Home Depot to repaint them for a fine finish.

the megan racing sticker on the cams? yeah its fugly. Thanks for that advice on the trim, the wheels need to be repainted too.
I gotta pick it up this weekend in NC...again, now that it will have a new clutch in it this time... I Have a "small" list of things to for restoration. The undercarriage needs some serious tender loving care, took some photos while they had it on the lift, cringed at the sight of things.

Nope, not this car, but there are a few of my buddies that go every year, with almost the same setup. The white RS's are taking over!!

I purchased the shell from Most-Wanted, down in Florida and then got it put together, took it to the track, and my second time ever in the car, on slicks, I set the 2010 records, heh. The car is an absolute daemon.

It's the stock turbo, but besides that, it's Kelford 280/272 cams, Driven Innovations intake manifold and 70mm Hypertune throttlebody, electric water pump, 4 gallon fuel cell with an inline FueLab Prodigy fuel pump feeding e85 to my 1600cc injectors. The car is light, weighs in at 2680 with me in it, fueled up, and I run 34 psi making 412whp and 365ft/lb on Street Tuned Motorsports mustang dyno. It is the highest horsepower stock turbo car that has ever been on the dyno there.

I am undertaking a huge project this winter, so I will try to post up some pics in the near future :)

Dropped #1350 off at the junkyard the Monday after Thanksgiving. Here she is in her final days as a Roller. Done with AWDs for now, just going to focus on my RWDs for now. Hopefully be at the Shootout with my Coupe.

So many good memories with that car and yes that is a SoVaDSM decal on the rear door window.
