Normally I always fix these things myself, but my dad and the GST in question are in another state at the moment. With those of you who have 4g63 experience, what do you make of the leak down test results below?

On Wed my car indicator light came on with "check engine" and it started to run real rough. I took it in to a mitsu mechanic and he diagnosed it as the #2 cylinder compression was 130 psi, #1 was 160 psi, #3 165 and #4 170 psi. So leak down on the #2 cylinder is 87%. Normal compression should be 178 psi and minimum is 133 psi. Maximum allowable difference on cylinder compression is 14 psi. He recommends a valve job with new plugs and wires. Cost $1795. What do you think?

I told him to replace the plugs and wires himself, and get back to me. It sounds as if the problem is acute, essentially eliminating an acute issue with the valves that requires a valve job STAT.
