Not really crappy dude :P

Nimble is the word I would use for any "roadster" type car. The F20C motor is pretty much amazing if you ask me.

i like them, they're beautiful, but they're just overpriced. I can buy me a killer EVO and still have lots of money left over for mods.

I bought mine used for $20k :P

I couldn't find an Evo at the time for that price.

Terry, How you been? Long time no see. I've been on S2KI and M3forum

I think they're pretty cool. My z3 roadster with straight 6 will spank an S2000 any day though!

They are very nice cars. I'll agree that they are about 5k overpriced though but all RWD sport convertables are in that same range (350Z vert, Mustang GT vert, etc.) I looked into one when I bought the 8. It was too small for the price but I really liked it otherwise. Plus having a vert rocks. I still go test drive verts on really nice days when I'm bored. :D

Any engine that revs to 9k is alright in my book.Amazing engineering, as are alot of honda engines when u consider they can engineer incredibly reliable engines that make 100bhp or more per liter, take that into thought, if a chevy sb 350 were to make 100bhp per liter it would be putting out 570 hp all motor, and it wont be as reliable as a honda anyways. Sorry guys, I'm not condoning driving a civic with a fart can and a gay body kit, but you gotta give honda some recignition for their engineering.

Good points. But for 50k there are way better cars available. I'm not a huge fan for 4 cyls. Sure they are decent but 50k can get me a monster C5 Z06... a real car with balls. 405hp... I can't even imagine having that much power.

i don't know where you get your information from but brand new S2000's only cost around 34k...

I did a track day with the s2000 club last year. I passed a LOT of them. :shrug Not hardcore enough for me, but if I was older I might consider one for cruising around in. I've never really cared for any 4 wheeled Honda's though.

Sorry I'm from Canada. Here it costs 50k and so does a 2004 C5 Z06.

If it's an M coupe/roadster than you'd have a good chance at it but not a stock Z3. I spanked a Z4 last summer :P

The 04+ S is "more conservative" than the 00-03 models. I also noticed allot of S owners aren't hardcore racer's as well. The "crowd" is older and more into the convertable aspect of the car.

The S is an autocross monster and can be a really fast car on the track with the right person behind the wheel. Other cars with more HP can compensate with straight line speed for their lack in cornering. The S2000 is all about corner entry and exit speed and not straight line speed.

Terry, I bought the car last April and couldn't find an EVO in my price range. Every EVO was marked up at the time to $26k+ and I'm not a Z fan (i'm not into V motors). The car I really really wanted but couldn't get a good deal on a M coupe or Roadster(dealers kept screwing me on financing). The E36 M was also overpriced. Who pays $20k for a car with over 50k miles on it? And like the M coupe/roadster the finance rates were in the 8% range.

I bought my S with a 100k mile warranty with 38.5k miles for 20k and 4.8% financing :P

Oh my main reason for this thread is to find out why DSM guys hate Honda...

I own a Honda and a DSM and I don't hate Honda. I love my Honda because it was my first car purchased back when I was 17 and it's still runs good. It's what I always drive when my DSM has any down-time.

I think the main reason why people hate Honda is not because of the car or the brand it's because of the drivers. Most of the Honda drivers are dumb young punks that think they can take any car on the road just cause they add an intake and exhaust. I don't know how many times i've been driving with my wife in my DSM and all of a sudden a Honda drives by me and revs their motor to about 6k rpms which makes no sense. Honda drivers do the stupidest things and that's why people on here hate Hondas.

Civic drivers :P

I've noticed the sport car market has gotten bigger and now we have all sorts of rice boys. Civic was just the best selling economy car thats all

Well we were all there for the same reason and they are definately good handlers. I just didn't find them to be much competition on the track that day. The S2000 is a momentum car just like a Miata, and I wouldn't buy one of those either. At the end of the day it comes down to the driver anyway - I had an instructor that was faster than me on the track in a rental Cavalier automatic on 6 year old Hoosiers. To me Honda's have never had any 'soul', a must have for any car I own. They are far too sterile and no amount of reliablility can overcome that.

Where the hell are you pricing s2000's. 32000.00 ordered from the dealer with matching factory paint removable hard top and soft top. Used ones are cheaper. Evo's can be had here in IL for 20,000-22,000 almost every day through a local shop i know of.

Don't get me wrong its a decent car but if I were to spend 30k (American) I would be all over a 350z or a G35 coupe. Its just my preference I guess... the S2K looks too tiny like my Eclipse.

am i the only one that thinks the S2k along with z3's look like a penis driving down the road? It couldn't look any more like a phallic simble if you slapped a couple giant beach balls on the sides and paint it all beige. I would much rather pick up a 350z as someone else mentioned

For the money there are much more well rounded cars. I'm still not impressed the motor can spin 9k rpms. It has no torque. Besides, the gas mileage on the car sucks. A base model Vette gets better mileage on the interstate and is just 2mpg short of the S2k in town.

So is this a discussion as to what is better or whether or not we like the S2000? Cause if we're going with whats better then Im pulling the Lambo card, yeah definately a Lamborghini!

It's a Honda so it's reliable but it's to small for me. I drove one and it has no power until high rpms and that's not fun for normal driving. Plenty of cars I would rather have for the $ although they probably wouldn't last half as long.
