48657, what's up old timers? it's been awhile
Posted by turbo8u, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Howdy strangers? It's been a few years. I just celebrated the 10 year anniversary of owning my Talon :) It's been the most epic ride of a lifetime. How is everyone? What have you guys been up to in terms of projects, like what are you into now? Just talked to Skrilla the other day, and Chris 2.4 is in Vancouver across the river....we really want to do a RWD 2.4L talon here soon but our licenses are both suspended...(assholes) what are you all doing for work now? still no 2.4L mounts on here, wtf!

Josh

Nice of you to drop in. Most of us are still around, though its pretty dead here these days. Most of us stay in contact through social media, mainly G+

As for me, my car is running on MS2 now, finished the install last fall, and it's still not boosted :( Some of us are Dads now and that puts a lot of the projects on the backburner.

right on good to hear you still have it though, lot of people sold their cars. When my car is down I have the craziest dreams about it...

here's some of my welding projects as of late.

That is pretty awesome Josh! Nobody has mass produced the mounts yet and I don't think they will.... like Cars said, this place has slowed down drastically. Most of the people working on big projects don't post but I know of one RWD 2G in the works and a few other big builds that are going on. We mostly keep in touch through G+ like Cars said and just bullshit through out the day. Then meet up in NORWALK and raise hell for a few day, although I suspect this coming year may be a "mild" year as I've heard a bunch of people are bringing "2nd gen 2gnters".

Damn autocorrect....Cars=Cas

He's STILL working on that? I thought by now it would be pretty close to done.

Hey Josh, that is some retard strength welding/art projects! Very cool!

And you just made me realize that I am now one of the old timers, lol.

Projects? Too many to list. But slowing down on the experimantal set-ups on the race car and starting to clean her up and make her look a little better (now that I have more of an idea on what will be in the engine bay). Currently running a 16 to 1 engine with other goodies (oops put wrong pic up. Editted in correct one)

yeah I witnessed his "progress" a month or two ago and it seems to be hovering in the garage surrounded by other stuff ;-)

However... I recently finished installing my turbo kit i'd been piecing together for last year or so. I'm on my 2nd 2gnt though as I parted ways with my first one many years ago :-(

WAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPP

Kind of funny you made this thread just days before I visited the site after years. I came here yesterday and searched old threads I posted in.. man that's weird, I don't even remember typing most of my posts.

Anyway, I was hoping I would come here to see somebody in the 9's.. wth.

As for me, I sold the GSX awhile ago, joined the Army National Guard Oct. 2010, moved to Houston, TX and am now engaged as of Christmas.

I still want to build another DSM, but it's highly unlikely. I tried going for 10's in the GSX before I sold it, but when I got to the track to tune, it ended up being competition day and I was only able to make 2 passes. Best one a 12.3 @ 117mph with a 2.2x 60ft and breaking up in 3rd gear... Wish I would have had more time to tune and learned to drive the damn thing.

Anyway, it's good to see most of you still hanging around. Long live 2gnt :cheers

Right up 290 at 610. I hardly ever see a DSM or any modded looking vehicles around Houston. They only come out late at night or what?

Or in the right parts of town. Not much around there...

I'm just east of downtown, myself.

Hm, I might work by you then, off Clinton in between Lockwood and Wayside. Our company is moving to Deer Park next week though.

Let me know if there's any good meets or a local forum I can browse around on.

I grew up in Deer Park.

There's no local forums that are worth a damn as I as I know. htowndsm might still be around, but I haven't had anything to do with it in 10 or 12 years.

I'm somehow still here. Although I had to let the '97 HRC/Howell/16G/Megasquirt3.0 go many years ago, I still work on cars - changed the front brakes on my 2001 A4 1.8t this evening. Under 2 hours with crappy hand tools, still got it.

Glad to see the site still has some traffic.

Sup homie! It's good to see you're still around. I thought you had sold the talon but glad you didn't. I don't do many projects with the 2g any more, except fix things every time it gets broken in to. My daily driver is an electric bike I made, it's actually a faster commute to work because I don't have to deal with traffic. I was in Michigan for some training but now back in SoCal enjoying the sun.

Father of 16 month old twin boys. Trying to get a damn camaro running on MS stock computer or hopes and dreams...

Sold my Talon last fall and bought this with some of the money. LOL.

It's much easier to work on, and store.

good to hear you guys are doing well :) Are you working on a RWD Dino? I'd love to check out some pictures.

I'm working on two 10.5' high, stainless steel 3000lb sculptures right now so I'll post some pictures as soon as it takes some better form. The buckyball shape otherwise known as a truncated icosahedron is the shape of Carbon-60....been doing some crazy work with these molecules the past few years and it keeps getting crazier.

Nice thread, Josh. It’s great to see people still visit this classic forum from time to time. I hope all is well. As for me, I no longer own the 99 RS-T as I sold it to what I hope is a good home a couple of years ago. I believe the gentleman that bought it was actually leaving to the service a couple of weeks after I signed over the title. These days I own a BMW X3, work at a hospital, love being a father, still continuing my never ending education, and enjoying life the best I can.

Kent, it’s great to see your still alive and well!

& geez, I remember when I was new! I never thought I would see a 10 year (almost) membership!

That bike reminds me of a dream I had last night about driving my car except it looked like a go kart and had no front end so I had to sit cross-legged so my legs didn't scrape on the ground.

Do you even fit on that thing? or is your son the coolest kid in town? I did 65 once on a pocket bike with nitrous, never again...

Ever heard of Art Prize Josh?

http://www.artprize.org/

It's a big art competition in Michigan. You've got about a year to get something together.

I think you would stand a punchers chance of placing with those. They are cool, large and noticable.

You hit it on the spot, Kent! I was going to suggest the same thing until I scrolled down and read your response.

Josh, take Kent's word w/ Art Prize in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I could easily see you in the top 10 if given the proper location to display this particular piece of work. At the least you will get massive amounts of exposure (were are talking hundreds of thousands of people) and at the most $250k+

How's the Benzo community treating you, boss?

Just started working on importing a 1990 Delica Star Wagon in 2015. After that, I don't know if I'll go back to DSMs or finally get an Alfa Romeo. ('72 Spider w/ a 4G63 would be epiiiiiiiic.)

Strange, that, ya know? I've been talking with a couple other guys our age (36, here), and have started to have a sense of what things like mid-life and existential crisis are all about. Nobody told us life would be so monotonous.

My daily has less bhp than a stock 2GNT puts to the wheels. Still, driving a riding lawnmower with a windshield can be pretty exciting in traffic. :P

I recently started visiting the forums again, definitely not as active as I remember, still nice to browse through old posts and reminisce. Still have my 97 RS-T although it hasn't seen pavement in the last 3-4 years, ex girlfriend decided to fuck with my electronic boost controller one day, still wish a piston or something would've came through the firewall and done her in. Just recently acquired another engine to tear down and rebuild, was a good running engine but not gonna chance it for the work involved. My sister started driving this year, so I hooked her up, that's right a 96 Eclipse RS lol. Her first involuntary mods were new struts, rear disc conversion and some 3g 17's. She has a pretty awesome brother :P
