28119, 3000 GT calipers

I've got a set of front calipers off a 3000 gt base model, they look just like GSX's. My question is, as far as the brake lines, should I order the SS brake lines for the RS or the 3000 GT? I read somewhere in here that the RS don't work on those calipers, just making sure.

The 2G GSX & RS calipers use a banjo bolt fitting, on the 1G dual piston calipers & base model 3000GT calipers the brake lines just screw in to the caliper. If you got 3000GT lines they would screw into the caliper but I dont know if they would fit correctly on the other end where it connects to the hard line. Use search and look up 3000GT brakes, theres info about how to use washers or cut the bolt a little on the 2G brake lines so they will work with the 1G or 3000GT calipers.

They're the same exact caliper as GSX's.

If you have one from a pre-94, its a screw-in fitting, if its 94+ its banjo bolt. You can order lines for either 3000gt-SL or GSX of any year 1992-1999, just make sure they have the same fitting as your calipers.

I recommend RRE's stainless lines highly. 95-99 $85 All 4 lines

Are you sure those are the same caliper?? A friend of mine had a 3000GT VR4 and he tried on my rims and they wouldn't work because they couldn't clear the caliper...

The VR-4 caliper is different (rotor and caliper are larger) than the Base Model's. The Base Model 3000GT caliper is the same as the GSX caliper just like thedawg said just make sure to get the right flex lines and he'll be all set.

Ok Dawwwgg
So your saying to order the lines for the matching year of caliper? I too have a set of 92 FWD Stealth brakes that have a screw in fitting. Will a set of 1g 92 stainless lines have the same fitting making up the hardline connection?

Terry,
I'm 99% sure that flare fitting is the same at the hard line. But if you want to be sure run to Autozone pick up a rubber flex hose for the 92 GSX ($14.99 I think) take it home and test it (then return it for your money back). If it's right just order the Stainless set for the 92 GSX.

I don't know what fitting a 92 GST caliper has, but I'm almost certain all 90-94 cars used screw in fittings on all calipers. (92 in particular is dodgy because they made some changes at 92.5.)

Just look behind the wheel to be sure. If the brake line comes out from the caliper at a 45* angle, its a screw-in. If it comes out at a 90* angle, its a banjo.

All fittings are the same *at the hard line* regardless of make/year.

Single piston caliper, screw-in?:
90-92 GSX
90-94 GST
90-94 RS, GS

Single piston caliper, banjo:
95-99 RS, GS, GST

Dual piston caliper, screw-in:
93-94 GSX
90-94 3000GT-SL
90-94 GVR4

Dual piston caliper, banjo:
95-99 GSX
95-99 3000GT-SL

Like I said, 3000GT-SL (aka "base model" 3000GT) and GSX are the same.
The 3000GT-VR4 is a completely different caliper design.
