1454, FYI: KYB GR-2 Spring Perches are Easily Knocked off Posted by eclipse804, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Just posting this here as an FYI in case anyone ever searches for this. When using adjustable coilovers, you usually need to either knock off or grind down the spring perch on the shock in order to get full adjustability (low). The KYB GR-2 spring perches can be knocked off easily with a hammer. Just lay the shock down horizontally on the ground, use a rubber mallet to hold the end of the shock as you ust a hammer to knock the perch up towards the top of the shock. Rotate the shock and it only takes about 3 strikes of the hammer to knock it off easily. It also seems that if you ever want the perch back, you can just slide it on, and it goes right back into place.

Also if you have Skunk2 coilovers, don't get Tokicos. The strut body of the tokico is larger than the inside diameter of the coil-over sleeve, so the lowest you can go is stock height(even if you grind down the perch).

Ian, do you mean that the shock is wider than those steel rings? The coilover sleeve itself has to fit over the shock right? The front KYB GR-2 shocks are too wide to use the steel rings with the lip on it, so I just put a washer. Is that what you mean?

Yea the rears are too thick to fit the rings on the shock. I don't know about the front.
