I bought my MS used almost a year ago. Its MS2 extra with 2.0.1 firmware. I recently installed the harness with all sensors and splices done. I have the stock ecu running the injectors and coil. When i crank the motor over none of the leds come on and neither when the car is on. I know one suppose to flash when the engine turning over

Heres my problem, when i connect the ms to my laptop I get a pop up saying "The selected communication Port (COM1) Cannot be open. To fix change port and try again." I tried all combinations a nothing happen.

All so i get "MS cannot connect to controller page1-5"

Sorry if this is straight forward enough i don't post much.
Any help appreciated.

So what is the MS doing if you have the stock ECU operating the injectors and coil?

It sounds like you need to setup your communication settings before you worry about anything else. What adapter are you using?

Check http://msextra.com/forums/index.php for available information regarding that side of the house.

Search online or find a computer guru friend that can setup your computer's COM ports so the laptop and Megasquirt unit can communicate before you go further.
