1715, MegaSquirt purchasing questions

I plan on buying MS from www.rs-autosport.com preassembled.
Right now I'm thinking the MegaSquirt ECU combo kit - MS 3.0, 420a/neon wasted for $435.
This includes the MS with v3.0, wasted spark (dont really understand what this is), and MegaSquirt'n Spark software, the harness, and 3-bar map sensor.
I've got a laptop to adjust settings, I still need to get the zeitronix but I'll wait to install the ms after i've gotten that.
Will this be suffice for 300hp/17lbs?
Anything else that I need with MS?>
Can someone tell me which type of tach input i'll need for 99 model rs?
