134495, 180 Degree Thermostat Info
Posted by teklein, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Hey,

Just thought I would post my findings for this. Much thanks to CODE4 for the original Motorad PN.

Motorad makes the Valucraft thermostats at Autozone. Right now you can only order a Motorad online, and with shipping its around 14-18 dollars.

Autozone can get this part anywhere from 3 hours to 12 hours, only it is branded as a Valucraft.

Valucraft PN is 17208 for the 180 degree thermostat.

Laters!

Ive had one since my MsII install. Definately nice. While cruising temps stay around 175-180. I dont know I think 195 is a little high for a T-stat.

195* Tstats are to help reduce emissions and supposedly improve fuel economy. On a stock car this is a good thing. On a modified car you're playing with fire.

Confirmed that Valucraft/Duralast is Motorad...

For the love of god do NOT use that rubber gasket. Broken 2 housings with them. Use the flat gasket.

The Jababa at Advance wouldnt give me the flat gasket because he insisted this would work. Brought back the broken housing and called him an idiot. Then later a buddy was putting my car together for me and did the same thing.

Thats why I give PNs!

Either way, 180 works great. 15-20 drop across the board!

There is physically no room in the water outlet for that rubber gasket.
