I can't wait to see what kind of numbers it puts down. Keep us all posted on how everything goes and for the love of god take it to a dyno and drag strip. Also any more specs would be great too. Best of luck on getting that beast up and running. :thumbsup

Are you going to weld the runners to the plates for your exhaust manifold?

That nice pretty motor, and you're going to use an emanage for it?

Such a waste. Go with something that you can actually tune with.

Like how you cut the manifold flange to allow for expansion. Most people don't know to do that.

All in all, looks good.

another idea is to drill out the manifold bolt holes bigger than the bolts to keep the bolts or studs from shearing when the flange expands.

sick setup, I agree with Dino though as far as how to manage that beast though. MSnS all the way.

also...

"-hahn racecraft turbo manifold modified for external wastegate"

closer picture perhaps? i'm interested in using a similar setup for a gt35r on my hahn manifold so just wanna see how you did it.

i really cant get any closer pics then what i already have cause id have to wedge my digi cam into the engine bay and there's not a whole lot of room. in the pics below you can get a pretty good idea of how i ran the wastegate. i wanted to weld the wastegate flange directly to the manifold but i had lots of clearance issues no matter how i tried to mount it. but u can see i welded about a seven inch pipe directly on the bottom of the #2 runner. i forget how big the hole was that i drilled into the runner but i used an air grinder to make the transition from the manifold to the wastegate pipe very smooth. on the dump pipe i welded a bracket that bolts to my AC bracket cause theres alot of weight hanging there. the extra 7" of pipe from the manifold to the wastegate is going to hurt the performance of the wastegate but like i said, i had to cause of clearances. not as good as a tubular equal length manifold but it will do.

Ditto.

If you use a smaller wastegate, like a deltagate or better yet a turbosmart streetgate or ultragate, there is barely enough room to put it up top with a flange welded straight to the manifold. it puts it really close to the hood, but it would fit.
115114, RE: 11months, alot of time, and a shit ton of money later...
Posted by turbo8u, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
i was thinking of adding a spacer in between the turbo and manifold and welding it in there going down

with slimlines it might fit

i dont like the idea of the gate off one runner though...

i dont know if thats everything or not, i might be missing a bunch of little shit here and there, but its no biggy. im tryin to run 17-20psi on 94 octane and im crossing my fingers for 25 on race fuel. but im not sure if my injectors will alow those numbers. i myself am sketchy about the e-manage piggyback but the guy (chris) im going to get help w/tuning has done a ton of piggyback and standalone street tunes. he was really pushing for me to get the e-manage. i was going to go with megasquirt, but hey tried it as a full standalone on this neon and ended up junking it for a motec. he has done several e-manage tunes on high boost cars so my fingers are crossed that he knows what he's doing. cause i am personally just coming out of the dark when it comes to standalones. when its all said and done if i feel i can get a ton more out of my engine with a complete standalone, im definatly going to shove out the cash for a motec or an aem. when we get it street tuned im going to rent the dyno up at slowboy for a couple hours (providing they do that), get chris to come up with me, and fine tune everything, and see what kind of numbers i can get.
i think thats everything for now, but if i think of anything else ill post it. so far ive done everything myself so if you have any questions or what not im usually online LilHazer1411. ill definatly keep everyone posted on updates and numbers, but now i gotta jet.

Well, start off by saying it looks like you got yourself off to one hell of a start. The engine looks great. I guess I'll be the asshole that starts disecting your setup though. With all the effort you went to on the engine and lines, I'm not a big fan of your IC pipes. If they were on just any ol' engine bay, I'd be like, you got a turbo, sweet. But you've gone to all the effort on everything else, it just seems like a little downer to me. IDK, maybe it's just early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet, so I'm just a dickwad. Otherwise, the whole thing is great, I'm glad I came across this thread because it's launching so many ideas for my setup, keep up the good work :thumbsup !

Freaking Awesome engine you defintely planned everything out, price wise too I bet. Major props on that. :thumbsup
:bowdown

But why use a small t3/t4 turbo,:scratch if it was me I would run a much bigger turbo with that Sweet Venom Intake

Yeah, you are going to need at least the lower part. I ran no cover for about 2 years, then I had my alternator belt shred and my timing belt ate it up. All the valves were bent, and the .45" lift cams I had at the time certinly didn't help.

Small update: My friend and i had the car running (well it's still running) on 93 octane. He had it street tuned on 23 psi. The car ran like a rapped ape. The eclipse destroyed my friends STI (which ran a 12.8 in the 1/4) and that was with the old t3/t4 installed and running 18psi. I dunno if i posted this before cause its been so long but i turned the computer over to MS and upgraded the turbo to a GT35-R. I'm waiting on some wires right now to come in the mail. The car falls flat on it's face when i hit about 5 pounds for some unknown reason. we think it may be due to some faulty wiring cause we were kinda in a rush just to get it on the road and running. Once they get in I'm going to rewire all the sensors and mount the MS and relay bored in a safe easy accesible place. After that's done we'll hook up my laptop and go to town. I'll try to get some videos up when we do this and put them on my myspace. I'm also going to post many more pictures of the facelift and what the setup looks like now. www.myspace.com/adamhazenstab Oh yeah, we're going to try to get it on a dyno within the next couple months ::fingers crossed::
