9080, Changing a f5mc1 to a NV-T350
Posted by Castle, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Hello all so I am Probly in the wrong area.
Here goes I have a 1995 gs n/t(420a). I looked in other posts and it looks simple to do. I have called up numerous tranny shops and they say it's not possible to mount the f5mc1 bell to the nvt350 And that it will not work in my car. It's a little confusing and frustrating, that they say it's not. So before I spend some Money on this nvt350. My question is will it work, if I swap over the parts. Thanks for ur time.

The F5MC1 is an NV-T350. One is the mitsu designation, the other is the manufacturers designation.

Look at the tag on the back of the trans. You can see it from the drivers side wheel well.

No, I'm telling you they're two names for the exact same thing.

The nvt350 has a cable actuated clutch, and the release lever goes threw the top of the bell not the bottom like mine. So I would have to change the bell and shifting linkages.

Regardless of whether it's a 95-2000 Neon T350 with a cable clutch or a 95-99 2GNT/Avenger/Sebring T350 with a hydraulic clutch, it's still an NV-T350.

There are two different final drive ratios, 3.94 (which is what we have stock) and 3.55 (in the SOHC Neon), but that aside, internally, they're all exactly the same from 95-2000. The 2001+ Neon transaxles are all hydraulic (like ours) and have a slightly tougher first and second gear.
