Hello, not sure if this belongs in The Pits or not but Im sure it will be moved if so. Anyway, It seems like every few months I am replacing my Clutch master cylinder. I mean sure it has a year warranty so its free each time but it gets really old changing the part. I am doing it the way the Haynes manual describes and it has become very easy for me to do.
They always seem to leak all over the inside of my firewall. I have the lovely brown stain on the carpet now from the fluid. I was just wondering if there was a better place/maker to get the part from. I have been going to Advance.
I think it has to be one of the O-rings inside of the part. There are two and I got a hunch its the rear one(closest to the firewall) is there anyway to make the part better? like better O-rings or something of the sort. Does anyone else have a problem that always comes back?
Thanks for your time.

I'd spend the extra money and buy OEM if they keep failing. I'd expect the OEM part to last longer, but if not, I'd say you have an issue elsewhere causing the part to fail.

Get one from the dealership. I replaced mine about 4 years ago with oem and it's never leaked. The no-name ones have not been on the market for very long. When I was shopping for one, the part stores didn't sell them.

Ok, about how much would the OEM run me. The crap parts cost me 70 bucks.

$109 from a Mitsubishi dealership. That's the suggested retail price set by Chrysler. Depending on the dealership, the price could vary a little bit. You can also check your local Dodge or Chrysler dealership. The Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring uses the same clutch master cylinder.
