what color is the stuff from the dealer?
my tranny had a creamy white color fluid in it... is this the right one?

Creamy white sounds like it has water in the oil.

how would it get in there?

i dont know i have never seen anything like that...

it (my transmission) was making a rattling noise

could it have been caused my the wrong kind of fluid being used...

Your engine is Blown, read in a Custom Haynes book. If you see creamy white on the oil cap etc. This means your engine is blown, I would rebuild just my opinion.


Also, this ATF+4 is for Automatics not Manuels. I use ATF+4 in my auto GS with Lucas OIL Transmiaaion Stablizer, and this Lucas stuff does work oh also I use lucas fuel treatment and in my oil.

Show a pic of the ATF+4 for manuel trans. It'll say on bottle either manuel/auto trans.

No its in my transmission...

We should get one of the mods to split this to a new topic.

Water will condensate within the transmission housing if you haven't driven the car for a while or if you typically drive a couple blocks and let the car cool off. Short trips will not let the internals heat up properly and burn the water off that is naturally in the air.

It's a fact of life here in Louisiana. My grandmother who drives something like 1000-1500 miles a year has water in her oil and transmission just from lack of use.

Change the oil, drive the car for a week or two and see if it is still creamy. If so change it again. If it is still creamy after another week or so, I would find someone who knows more than me to look into your problem.

If your oil is creamy then you have water getting into the trans or motor. Condensation is not going to create enough milky oil to be noticed and it doesnt matter what state your in.

I will split this since you guys have made a mess of it.

Dale, milky oil does not mean the engine is blown. Stop spreadign information that is wrong or I am going to shove your car up your A#$. Milky oil means water has entered the oil. I have not seen a white colored additive yet so if there is one i stand corrected. Water could be from when it was apart or there is a leak through a sensor hole ect. Use basic knowledge here. Flush with new oil and repeat until the white fluid is gone.

Dale: ATF +4 has been used in the NVT 350 for about the past 3 or 4 years by both new venture and Chrysler. The only reason some dealers sell you the original fluid is becasue its left over stock and they want to move it. They dont want to tell you to use ATF +4 becasue the original fluid is twice the cost.

currently the transmission is taken apart right now
cleaned it all with solvent and will put the manual tans fluid from the dealer when it is back in

does anyone know where i can get bearings for the transmission for a resonable rate.

the one i need from the dealer is $110!
