I checked the MSDS for Mobil 1 "High Mileage" engine oil, and the rating is only API SL, or CF for Diesel. I recently replaced the transaxle lubricant in my '96 Eclipse GS with Walmart's Supertech ATF+4 and it's a marvelous improvement, even with now 175,000 miles. And you can't beat the price.
Ed peters was the head engineer for transmissions at Chrysler... He explains it all in a video and ive read all over the neon forums the same thing too.
