1479, how many times have u rebuilt the tranny? mileage?
Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I have near 60k miles and I'm still on the 1st tranny. I beat the shit out of it usually and people have told me that I will kill it if I continue to do things I do. Well, a year and some change later after continuing to do those things, it stil works perfect. :7
I read the post about LA times calling our tranny a POS basically. I don't agree b/c mine has been thru hell and back and is still kicking it OG. Anyway, how many times have u rebuilt or replaced the auto tranny? And what mileage do you have?

first tranny BUT the LA TIMES article is about the tranny that come from the LE Baron, those old school convertable cars. we have a redesigned tranny therefore we don't have their problems.

I'm at 72k and on my first tranny. Many of those miles are boosted (been turboed for 3 years). I assume that our trannies are much better than the old Lebarons. I'm still worried about it though.

That article is based on the original series of A604s manufactured. They used to be a big piece of shit. Ours has been COMPLETELY redesigned... pretty much a completely different tranny. Things mentioned in that article and things having to do with the orginal A604s have no merit in regards to our tranny.

I know the tranny isn't the same. There are a lot of trannies out there with the same name as a previous 1 that lacked new technology. I work in a tranny shop. I was just curious mainly to see what the good tranny experience ratio was compared to the bad. :thumbsup

Before I got my manual, I had to replace the tranny in my auto at 65k, it hadn't stopped working yet but second and third gear sounded like a manual in reverse but only louder.

Im at 52,000 with the cooler, remote filter, and shiftkit and I push mine pretty hard. Ive had no probs with it other than input and output sensors going out but that really has nothing to do with the mechanical end of it all. I think if its taken care of it will last even when pushed.
