That is the point. It'll lower your compression slightly and give you less vacuum at idle, but will help it screem up top.

Retarding your cams will also help it up top, but not affect overlap.

I'm confused. At 0.050" lift, those cams don't have overlap at all.

The +2/-1 setting really won't do much, and the -2/-2 will probably actually give you more. Best thing to do is get on the dyno and play. It only takes a few seconds to adjust the cam gears. Start off where you are (-2/-2) and go from there. Set your intake came back to 0 and see how it does. If you lost HP, try 2* the other way. If you gained HP, leave it and try the exhaust cam the same way.
