3552, 12's Posted by 992gnt, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Finally made it into the 12 second club today. Track was shitty, and I really wasn't launching the car too hard for fear of killing my clutch, but the numbers were:
R/T - .751 60' - 1.860 330' - 5.399 1/8 - 8.310 1/8 - 84.37 1000' - 10.824 1/4 - 12.948 1/4 - 106.83
It's barely a 12, but I'll take it. The car had plenty more in it, I just wasn't willing to push it today. Mods are 3" turbo back, air filter, mbc, and an emanage. Running 19 psi on a mix of 93 and 106 octane. That may be the last time this car ever sees the 1/4 mile. :+

Nice run Greg! Like you said, your car definetly has more in it with a more agressive launch.....but I know how those clutches are. Congrats on hitting that 12's :thumbsup

I can do everything with my emange and a mbc that the dyno flash can do, and I don't have to drive to New England. He's getting good numbers, but my times work out to ~290 whp and around 350 crank. Good enough for me. :thumbsup

I was there when greg ran 12's. His car is crazy on the expressway. Congrats again greg.

That run was done at 19psi with a conservative 11.8:1 AF ratio on race gas. I had 23 degrees of timing at 6800rpms, which is why I say conservative. I think the stock bov was leaking a bit since I'm usually running 20-21psi. After the car cooled completely down(later that night), I was hitting 23psi.
Dave, you're right. I probably will go back, but only after a new clutch, a new bov, and some more aggressive tuning. I think 12.0:1 to 12.5:1 AFR will work well on race gas. In the mean time I'm going to hit a new semi-local awd dyno and do some hardcore tuning. I'm shooting for 290 whp on pump gas, without doing any other mods. }( I will be spending more time on nearby road courses and doing auto-x next year though.

I'll probably go next year as long as there is still an Evo class. Hopefully next year it will be bracketed. My 1/4 goals are mid 12's on race gas, so I'm not very far from being done. :7

Cool man congrats! I know it felt good when I broke the 12's. I would have ran my car more but it has a leaky headgasket and I didn't want to take a chance. I'm hoping for mid-low 12's next year if all goes well.

Greg - since you're thinking twisties, what kind of oil pan design is used on the EVO? I am curious.
420A is wide open pan, no windage. 1g pan is closed up, lots of windage tray, lots of slop protection.
What does the evo have?

3677, RE: 12's Posted by 992gnt, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Well, judging by the picture in the service manual, the pan appears to be *highly* baffled. Why do you ask?

3678, RE: 12's Posted by DarkOne, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Just thinking of welding up a 420A pan with something similar. Was curious more than anything.
